Step 1: Registration & Membership
Get Your Membership
- •Create a USA Fencing account at usafencing.org
- •Purchase a Competitive membership ($95/year)
- •Keep your membership card with you
Register for Events
- •Browse tournaments on USA Fencing or AskFred
- •Register early - events fill up quickly
- •Talk to your coach about which events are right for you
Step 2: Equipment Checklist
Required Gear
- ✓Mask with working bib
- ✓Jacket (FIE or non-FIE)
- ✓Knickers/pants
- ✓Plastron (underarm protector)
- ✓Glove for weapon hand
- ✓Long socks (knee-high)
Weapons & Cords
- ✓Two weapons (minimum)
- ✓Two body cords
- ✓Extra parts (tips, springs)
- ✓Basic tool kit
- ✓Weapon bag
Essentials to Pack

Step 3: Tournament Day Timeline
Night Before
Check all equipment, pack your bag, get good rest, eat a healthy dinner
Day of Event
Eat a good breakfast, arrive 45-60 minutes before check-in time
At the Venue
Check in, verify equipment passes inspection, find your strip assignment
Pre-Competition
Stretch, do footwork drills, warm up with practice bouts
During Tournament
Stay hydrated, stay focused, learn from each bout
